Promoting Excellence in Experiential Environmental Education

Why Choose
Wolf Ridge?

People Return Year After Year
Hundreds of school and group leaders bring thousands of kids to Wolf Ridge each year. Many of these groups have brought a new set of kids every year for over 30 years. Parents and grandparents bring or send their children again and again as they grow. As a matter of fact, Wolf Ridge offers such value that over 80% of our clientele return again and again. Wolf Ridge provides outstanding teaching in a magnificent setting. That is the value our students and teachers all share when describing why they return.

Outstanding Teaching
At their first class, students and teachers are immediately aware that the Wolf Ridge staff are professionals and highly skilled in their teaching technique. Our internationally acclaimed training program for graduate students assures that our level of instruction is very high. Wolf Ridge instructors are evaluated routinely in their methods, ensuring that quality comes first. Not only is quality important but quantity is as well. In comparison to other environmental education offerings around the region, Wolf Ridge offers long classes, with the majority being three hours in length. This length provides immersion in a subject while also allowing class time to visit the remote beauty of the property.

Magnificent Setting
When arriving at our center, first time visitors are struck by how professional and beautiful the facility is. Our facility looks a bit more like a college extension campus vs. an old summer camp. It gives the impression that you are here to learn but also have fun. With 2000 acres of gorgeous land from marshes to mountain-like peaks and 18 miles of trails, there truly are over 1000 places in which learning takes place at Wolf Ridge.

Individual Attention
Each visiting group is assigned their Wolf Ridge staff liaison who assures a personal connection between you and Wolf Ridge. Their time is spent with your group between classes and in the evening. He or she works with your leader in addressing any and all needs of your stay from the moment of your arrival until you’re on the road home.

The flexibility of our dormitory design allows us to easily accommodate groups from 15 to 360 in size. Once you’ve arrived your group has its own space and customized class schedule. One may see other schools and students in the dining hall but once in class, you’ll wonder where all those people went. Our outdoor classroom is so large that class groups drift away from the buildings into their own little world, sequestered away for a couple hours in the Northwoods.

We are good at what we do and would love to help you plan your next environmental education field trip!
