Target School Field Trip GrantsDuring the 2011-2012 school year, Target stores across the United States will award three grants for up to $700 each to fund field trips and help provide students with learning experiences outside of the classroom, enabling one out of every 25 schools throughout the U.S. to send a classroom on a field trip. Target provides a tool on their website to help schools search for field trip ideas, including field trips related to science themes as well as fine arts and language arts. Organizations also have the opportunity to promote their location as a potential educational destination. Applications for the 2011-2012 school year’s Target Field Trip Grant program are due by October 3, 2011. Be a Green Ribbon SchoolThe U.S. Department of Education announced the creation of the Green Ribbon Schools program to recognize schools that are creating healthy and sustainable learning environments and teaching environmental literacy. The new awards program will be run by the Education Department with the support of the White House Council on Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. |
