Cross Country Skiing

Class Description:

Cross Country Skiing is an outdoor recreation class. While indoors, students will be introduced to equipment options and selection, as well as appropriate clothing. Beginning lessons will be offered outdoors before touring (up to 3 kilometers) of Wolf Ridge trails.

Outcomes

Upon completion of the Cross Country Skiing class students will be able to:

  • Recall how the ski and the sport of skiing has evolved through history.
  • Demonstrate proper fit and use of skiing equipment.
  • Demonstrate beginning cross-country skiing skills.
  • Describe the value of cross country skiing as an individual exercise and a lifetime sport.
  • Explain the role of cross country skiing in developing an outdoor ethic.

Minnesota Graduation Standards

Wolf Ridge has aligned the Center's entire curriculum to Minnesota Department of Education Academic Standards. As the primary student audience at Wolf Ridge is from 4th-12th grade, the matrices address these grade levels.
